Reiki

What is Reiki?
There are many styles or types, if you will, of reiki. I was trained in Usui Reiki.
Usui Reiki is a system of energy balancing that works with the body’s natural biofield. Every living organism emits a measurable field of electromagnetic and subtle energy—this is well-documented in biophysics, medicine, and neuroscience. Reiki works by interacting with this field to support the body’s built-in ability to heal, regulate, and restore balance.
Think of your body as a self-calibrating energy system. When you experience stress, illness, trauma, or emotional overload, parts of that system become disorganized—like a Wi-Fi signal going fuzzy. Reiki helps “re-tune” the system so it can operate more clearly.

How It Works (Scientifically & Energetically)

Your Body Has an Energy Field

Modern science recognizes multiple layers of human energy:
-
Electromagnetic fields produced by the heart, brain, and nervous system
-
Bio-photons (light emitted by cells)
-
Electrical signaling in tissues
-
Measurable changes in heart-rate variability and brainwave patterns
Reiki interacts with this energy field to bring it back into coherence.

The Practitioner Acts As a Conductor

In Usui Reiki, practitioners do not use their own energy.
Instead, they channel a neutral, universal life-force energy—think of it as tapping into a natural energetic frequency that supports homeostasis.

Scientifically, you can think of this like:
-
Introduced coherent frequencies organizing chaotic ones
-
Gentle energy influencing biological systems toward regulation
-
A calming signal that shifts the nervous system into rest-repair mode

Your Nervous System Responds

Reiki triggers the parasympathetic system (“rest and digest”), producing:
-
Lower stress hormones
-
Lower heart rate
-
Greater emotional clarity
-
Improved immune activity
-
Faster recovery in tissues

Clients often feel warmth, tingling, waves of calm, or lightness—natural signs that their biofield is reorganizing.

What a Session Feels Like

You remain fully clothed, typically lying down or sitting comfortably.
The practitioner lightly places hands on or just above the body and transmits coherent energy patterns.

Most people describe:
-
Deep relaxation
-
A sense of warmth or gentle currents
-
Emotional release
-
A shift from “busy mind” to peaceful clarity
-
Your body does the actual healing—Reiki simply creates the conditions where healing becomes easier.
-
Why It’s Effective for Beginners

Reiki is:

-
Non-invasive
-
Safe for all ages
-
Compatible with any medical or therapeutic care
-
Adaptable—sessions can be in-person or distance-based
-
Beginners often notice improvements in sleep, mood, stress levels, digestion, and overall emotional resilience within the first few sessions.
